Mastering Foot Mechanics

mastering Foot Mechanics Training: Elevate Your Practice

Effective movement begins with a strong foundation—the feet.

As a therapist, understanding and addressing foot mechanics is critical, as dysfunction in the feet often leads to compensatory patterns and systemic challenges throughout the body. The Mastering Foot Mechanics Workshop offers you the tools to assess, mobilise, and enhance foot function, empowering both you and your clients to achieve transformative results.

Unlock the Foundation of Movement

This two-day, hands-on workshop combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications to provide a deep understanding of foot mechanics and their impact on human movement. Through the lens of functional biomechanics, you’ll explore the intricate workings of the foot and learn techniques to optimize mobility and stability.

The program begins with self-paced online content, allowing you to build a strong theoretical foundation. This enables the in-person sessions to focus on practical, hands-on learning, where you’ll practice assessment techniques, therapeutic interventions, and mobilization strategies that can be applied immediately in your practice.

Start with the self-paced content to learn in the comfort of your own space, before joining a face to face workshop to consolidate your learning and practice assessment and therapeutic movement treatments.

Through a detailed exploration of foot mechanics using a three-dimensional model, attendees will be guided in evaluating both static and dynamic foot function. The process of foot evaluation will start with assessing the foot in its resting static position, followed by an in-depth look at its dynamic function during movement. This will lead to developing interventions to optimise both static and dynamic foot performance.

The practical component will feature a Functional Movement Assessment, enabling participants to assess their own and others’ foot mechanics. This hands-on experience will deepen their understanding of how foot movement affects the entire body and allow them to feel subtle changes that improve functionality.

A key aim is for participants to experience these changes in their own feet and body, gaining the confidence to apply these techniques with clients immediately.

In preparation for the workshop, all theory and practical content will be available online to establish a solid foundation. This allows participants to focus fully on the practical elements during the in-person sessions.

Why This Workshop Was Created

For many therapists, the feet remain an overlooked area of expertise, despite their critical role in balance, gait, and stability.

This workshop was designed to address a significant gap in therapist education, helping you understand your own foot mechanics before transferring that knowledge to your clients. The feet often act as the root cause of dysfunctions that cascade throughout the body, yet therapists frequently lack the training to properly assess or treat these issues.

By participating in this movement-based workshop, you’ll not only gain a deeper understanding of foot mechanics but also the ability to apply this knowledge to address a wide range of client concerns.

  • Learning how to mobilise all joints of the foot: From the subtalar and talonavicular joints to the metatarsophalangeal joints and beyond, ensuring comprehensive functionality.
  • Understanding and improving all phases of foot mechanics: From initial contact (heel strike) to Terminal Stance (toe off), for optimal movement and performance.
  • Strengthening the arch and building robust foot support: Creating a solid foundation for balance and stability.
  • Identifying and correcting movement abnormalities: Enabling precise interventions that improve gait and overall body mechanics.

Through this practical, hands-on learning, you’ll develop a sharper diagnostic eye and acquire effective, real-world techniques that can transform your clients’ movement, balance, and overall quality of life.

This is your opportunity to finally bridge the gap in understanding feet and their profound influence on the body.

MEET
RICCARDO GALEOTTI

Meet Riccardo Galeotti: Guiding Therapists to Transformative Client Care - I founded The Body Lab with a clear mission: to address the real mechanics of movement that traditional approaches often overlook. Early in my career, I saw firsthand how conventional therapies can fall short, often focusing on surface-level symptoms rather than addressing the root causes of pain and dysfunction. It became clear that understanding the intricate mechanics of the body—especially how bones, joints, and muscles work together in motion—was key to providing lasting relief and empowering clients to take control of their health.

Why Work with Me? - With over 18 years immersed in biomechanics, movement science, and Chinese Medicine, I’ve developed a unique framework known as clinical functional biomechanics. My journey includes 10 years studying gait and biomechanics in depth, 4 years of direct mentorship under Gary Ward—the visionary behind Anatomy in Motion—and a decade of experience mentoring and instructing fellow therapists in AiM. This extensive training has enabled me to create a practical, real-world approach that goes beyond textbook theory and into tangible results for both therapists and clients.

What Therapists Gain from My Workshops - My workshops aren’t just about acquiring new techniques—they’re about shifting how you understand and approach client care. Expect to: Enhance Client Satisfaction: By addressing the root causes of movement dysfunction, you’ll offer clients real, lasting improvements rather than temporary fixes. Refine Your Assessment Techniques: Learn to analyse and interpret movement patterns in a way that brings deeper insights and clarity to your practice. Build Confidence in Delivering Results: With my guidance, you’ll gain the confidence to provide treatments that make a tangible difference, equipping clients to prevent recurring issues and sustain long-term health.

A Practical, Client-Centered Approach to Biomechanics - Through my training, you’ll gain hands-on skills to transform your practice, from assessing gait to correcting complex movement patterns. My workshops are designed with practicality in mind: we dive into real-world applications and avoid abstract concepts, making it easy to start applying what you learn immediately.

A Learning Experience that Lasts - Embracing a new framework like clinical functional biomechanics takes commitment, which is why I ensure you have support at every step. With resources available before, during, and after each workshop, my goal is to make sure you walk away not only with new skills but with the tools to implement them effectively in your practice.

If you’re ready to go beyond temporary solutions and help clients achieve lasting, meaningful change, join me at The Body Lab. Together, we’ll redefine what’s possible in client care, one insightful step at a time.
